question Will the VA lower my rating if I stop seeing their psychiatrist?

I stopped my VA psychiatrist appointments because we weren't meshing well, and she wouldn't renew my prescriptions, which isn't an issue for me. I've moved on to a civilian psychiatrist who agrees to prescribe medication using my retired Navy insurance. My concern is whether the VA might lower my rating due to my decision to not continue with VA-provided psychiatrists, even though I'm still seeking treatment and submitting my medical records.

Nope. Keep up with your current provider and periodically ask for your record copies. That way, you're covered if the VA ever needs to review your case.

Echoing @greg's advice, try to maintain your own set of medical records. If the VA requests a follow-up exam and doesn't find updated medical evidence to uphold your existing rating, they could assume your health has improved, which might risk a decrease in your disability rating.
