question Why doesn't a 45% VA disability rating round up to 50%?

I have a question... If I have five conditions, each rated at 10%, and the disability calculator totals it to 45%, why is my rating only 40% instead of being rounded up to 50%?

10% + 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% = 41% which is rounded down to 40%.

The VA offers a fairly good disability calculator for determining your rating. Keep in mind that they round to the nearest 10%, which is 40% in your case,

I find this calculator more convenient because it's easier to click the buttons for each rating to get a quicker combined rating.

The drawback is that you can't easily keep track of which disability has been assigned which rating, unlike the VA calculator you shared where you can use it and log the specific disability to see if something has been added or not once complete.
