It's known as mandatory reporting. They might risk their jobs if they ignore it. Try visiting a veterans hospital and being open about your situation. At most, you might have to stay there for a short period.

You can dial the VA Crisis Line at 988, but if they suspect you're in danger of self-harm, they will call for help.
