I was already gettin' 70% for mental health stuff, and now I just got 100% for cervical cancer. Seems like I'm gettin' paid more than 100%. Anybody knows why? It's just me and my husband here.

You're dealing with one condition rated at 100 and another at 60 percent or higher, both linked to service (that means you're automatically considered housebound by law). You're not actually stuck at home forever, but you're getting paid like you are because of your high ratings. For 2024, this extra cash for SMC-S stands at $446 monthly.

A veteran might qualify for SMC-S, a higher compensation level, if they have a 100% disability rating for one condition and another separate condition rated at least 60%. This recognizes the added burden of multiple severe disabilities, offering support beyond the 100% rating.

SMC-S isn't limited to those who are housebound; it's also for veterans with significant additional disabilities.
