Has anyone here applied for Social Security disability? How was your experience?

My dad's VA disability rating is at 80%, and he's 60 years old. He finds it harder to work these days because of his disability. Can he sign up for Social Security?

Nope. Our family gets both SSDI and 100% T&P from the VA.

When I first asked for VA disability, they said I could get TDIU, but I didn't take it. Now, I applied for SSDI and they said no. I've fixed my papers for them to look again. Can I still try to get TDIU from the VA, or did I miss my chance? It seems like the VA might say yes more easily than SSDI.

I heard that you should only claim your main disability, not all of them (I'm a 100% disabled vet), and I'm claiming SSDI because of mental health. What papers do I need to give them? I'm really not sure what to ask for and think maybe I should just get a lawyer from the start. Thanks for helping.

Why is getting help from Social Security for PTSD so difficult? It shouldn't be this hard!

As a 100% T&P vet, I think I've given all the papers Social Security wants, or at least they haven't asked for more. I'm just trying to know how much time this will take because I need to make some money. A lot of what I get now goes to bills, but I have to keep things going.
